Event Details
Washington Photo Safari, already offering popular photo excursions in Europe and North America now penetrates deep into South America once again to bring you  6 days of  photographic adventure  in colorful Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, and in the magnificent grandeur of Iguazu Falls.

This Safari, a repeat of the highly successful photo excursion in 2005, will be led once again by  Argentinean photographer Eddie Arrossi. It will take you to the most photogenic parts of this magnificent European-style city, the plazas, the churches, the port, and the beautiful city skyline. We will also  give you an  opportunity to photograph professional tango dancers in costume, and  take you to a waterfall that is four times larger than Niagara Falls: Iguazu, on Argentina's border with Brazil, where you will photograph the famous 280 foot-high Devils Throat waterfall.

The Safari itinerary designed by Mr. Arrossi includes the historic Plaza de Mayo, the 200-year old City Museum, the Puerto Madero and its views of the city at night, the French architecture of the Plaza Francia area, the famous Obelisk, the San Telmo historic neighborhood, a special photo shoot with professional tango dancers, a whole day out in the pampas photographing gauchos in San Antono de Areco, and shooting the Buenos Aires city views at night. The instruction will concentrate on architectural and people photography, and on daytime scenics and nighttime shooting with tripods.

Instructor Eddie Arrossi is an independent photographer in the Washington DC area specializing in photojournalism, weddings, and corporate events who covers local news events for the Spanish New Agency EFE. Raised in Argentina, Eddie began his work at age 16 and became one of the more prominent travel photographers in Buenos Aires, developing a large portfolio of images that appear on post cards and travel books sold throughout Argentina's capital city and at Iguazu Falls. He has also photographed extensively on his travels to Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Brazil, the UK, Holland and the Czech Republic. Now a resident of Bowie, MD since 2002, Eddie frequently serves as an instructor for Washington Photo Safari. His work can be seen at his website www.eaphoto.com.

Describing her experience on the 2005 Safari to Buenos Aires, one participant said:

"I wanted to let you know that Eddie did such a wonderful job hosting this photo safari.  He treated the entire group as guests of his home country.  He knew that most of us had a limited understanding of Spanish and went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that we felt comfortable.  He was so flexible and offered  us several suggestions and options for our daily outings and even stayed late to have dinner with us, translate ;-) have fun, get to know us, and also offered outstanding photographic advice on how to get the best angle on a particular point of interest and how to set the lighting on our cameras, etc.  Eddie made the trip that much more enjoyable because of his extra effort.  As a result, we were able to experience Buenos Aires far beyond what a traditional tourist would see on a typical tour.  He showed us Buenos Aires from a personal perspective, providing all of the history and answering all of our questions so openly and honestly.  He was a great tour guide, and I am so glad that I had  the opportunity to experience Buenos Aires from his eyes."

The Safari fee of $955 covers all six days of photographic instruction and workshop materials, local van transportation in Buenos Aires and outlying areas, and model fees. It does NOT cover hotel, meals, or round-trip airfare to Buenos Aires and Iguazu.

Our recommended hotel for this Safari is the Hotel Nogaro located downtown right next to Plaza de Mayo, and we have been offered a price of only $1,584 round-trip from Washington-Dulles (including airfare and six days and five nights of hotels in Buenos Aires and Iguazu, transfers to and from the airports), with a single supplement  of $351, via the Tumi Travel Agency in Centreville, Virginia, email tumitravel1@verizon.net .

Offered, Friday, December 1 through Wednesday, December 6, 2006. $955/person for Safari only. Minimum number of participants needed: 6 persons, maximum of 15 persons. (Washington Photo Safari reserves the right to cancel the safari if we do not have a minimum of six attendees by October 15, 2006.)
